Rusty Nail is a fictional character in the films Joy Ride and Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead[1]. He is the antagonist and an unseen [2][3] truck driver who hunts and kills his victims. However, in Joy Ride, different alternate endings ends up that Rusty Nail got killed. The theatrical cut is the only one in which Rusty Nail lives. His truck is clearly identified as a black Peterbilt 359 Class 8 truck. Both of the films depict Rusty Nail as a psychological sadist[4]. He contact with his victims using a CB radio attached to his truck. Anonymity is one of Rusty's tricks to evade and be undetected by the law.

Rusty Nail creates a psychological mind game that ensues his victims of a gory, life-and-death situations.
Black sheep is the codename chosen by Fuller (Steve Zahn), respectively. They use this nickname to prank other CB radio user, but, by mistake, it ends up in the wrong hands. Along with his brother, Lewis (See Candy Cane), they prank Rusty who turns out to be a murderer. He is a part of Rusty's sick games, although he survives throughout.
Another nickname chosen by Fuller. It was the first nickname Fuller used. It was originally used for Lewis.
Candy Cane is the false radio handle used by Lewis Thomas (Paul Walker). He was coerced by his brother to play a prank over the air, and unintentionally fell to the wrong hands. He survived Rusty Nail's sick games.
A nickname Rusty gave to Melissa (Nicki Aycox) because she had blonde and curly hair.
It also seems that he called her "Goldilocks" due to her being uninvited in his home like Goldilocks and the 3 bears.
A nickname Rusty gave to Katherine (Anna Parker Rose) because she had black and pig tail hair.
